A simple, family-friendly banana bread made with whole-food ingredients and some extra protein.
My daughter loves to bake, and we love finding healthier ways to make some of our favorite foods. This banana bread is one we make often!
It’s gluten- and dairy-free, lower in added sugar, and has some extra protein. It makes a great, easy breakfast or after-school snack—and it’s something our whole family enjoys.
3 very ripe bananas, mashed
2 eggs
⅓ cup pure maple syrup
¼ cup avocado oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1¼ cups almond flour
1¼ cups certified gluten-free oat flour
½ cup pea protein powder (or your favorite protein powder)
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon sea salt
¼ cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
½ cup chopped walnuts and/or chocolate chips, optional
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas, eggs, maple syrup, avocado oil, and vanilla.
Add the almond flour, oat flour, protein powder, baking soda, baking powder, and sea salt. Mix just until combined.
Stir in the almond milk.
Fold in walnuts and/or chocolate chips, if using.
Pour into a greased or parchment-lined loaf pan.
Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
Allow to cool before slicing.
